(COVINGTON, La.) — Friday, the St. Paul’s Wolves (2-1) and the Northshore High Panthers (1-2) will square off in the district 6-5A opener for both teams and Homecoming game for St. Paul’s. Last year, the Wolves defeated the Panthers 55-14 at Hunter Stadium en route to compiling a 7-4 record. The Panthers finished the 2014 season with a 3-7 record.
The Panthers are coming off of a 20-21 loss to Lakeshore High School. In week two, they defeated cross-town rival Salmen 12-7, and in week one, they fell to Biloxi High School of Mississippi.
The Panthers are led offensively by running back Matt Harvey and quarterback Walter Harris.
The Wolves defeated the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets 27-7 last week at Hunter Stadium. Senior quarterback Kenny Sears and junior wide receiver TJ Bedford led the Wolves offensively, connecting for three touchdown passes.
The Wolves also got a score by way of a touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Johntae McDowell, who spelled Sears after Sears exited the game temporarily with an injury, to senior Grant Gallaspy.
Defensively, the Wolves held the Yellow Jackets to 191 yards and were led by junior Brandon Barreiro, who notched an interception.
The Wolves defeated Edna Karr in week one and fell to Jesuit in week two.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Hunter Stadium.
