Playoff Preview, Wolves Travel to Scotlandville to Battle the Hornets

This Friday, Saint Paul’s football is on the road in Scotlandville to take on the Hornets in a playoff showdown.
In their regular-season finale, the Wolves dominated in a 37-3 trumping of district rival Fountainbleau. “Going to the sidelines and watching all my coaches and teammates, I’m just so happy to be surrounded by guys who have been so supportive of me through this transition from linebacker and then fullback with varsity,” stated Senior Nicholas Piazza, who scored the first two touchdowns of his career: one on the ground and one through the air. “We had our backs against the wall, and all we had to do was go forward,” Piazza said. “We put our heads down and put in one hundred and ten percent. That’s been our thing since spring ball. Coming out of a hole where we’re not very confident, we go all out.” Additionally, Senior Quarterback Grant Billson threw for three touchdowns. With that win, the Wolves clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs, giving them rest preceding this Friday’s road trip to Scotlandville, who has had a roller coaster of a season thus far.
The Hornets have won four of their last five games after kicking off the season 1-3, including a three-game losing streak. The Hornets put up just over six hundred yards of offense and did not punt in their regular season-ending district victory over Denham Springs. Ending off the regular season on a high note with a two-game win streak, the Hornets clinched a first-round bye and home-field advantage in Friday’s contest.
With both teams coming off bye weeks, they need to knock off the rust, and both defenses are ready to pounce on every opportunity they are given.
