Tropical storm Isaac is heading towards the Gulf of Mexico, meteorologists said. The report from the National Hurricane Center Friday morning was that the storm is expected to pass through Haiti and Cuba Saturday and make landfall in the U.S. Monday. Rain and winds from the storm have already begun to pound the Lesser Antilles islands near Puerto Rico, according to the NHC. The storm is expected to become a category one hurricane before it hits the U.S. and will likely make landfall near Tampa, Fla. Rain and storms may reach as far as southern Louisiana, however.
