Not only did Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer collide with each other during the AdvoCare 500, but they also started a brawl in the garage area at the Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona on Nov. 11, 2012.

On the second-to-last lap of the race, Jeff Gordon purposely wrecked Bowyer’s car, reportedly to retaliate for an earlier incident during the year. That didn’t sit well with Bowyer and his pit crew who have battled through much adversity over the past few weeks. As soon as Gordon went to park his car in the garage area, he was attacked by Bowyer’s pit crew, according to the Associated Press.

As the fight happened, Bowyer, who was a few hundred feet away, sprinted towards Gordon in order to get his hands on him. Bowyer ran.. and ran.. and ran.. and eventually made it to his destination. Once Bowyer got to the scene, NASCAR officials had to hold him back to keep him from joining in on the fight.

Kevin Harvick won the race and had no problem with the fighting he witnessed.

“The sport was made on fights. We should have more fights. I like fights,” Kevin Harvick, told reporters. “They’re not always fun to be in, sometimes you’re on the wrong end, but fights are what made NASCAR what it is.”

Clint Bowyer reacted angrily to the wreck in which Gordon caused.

“It’s pretty embarrassing for a four-time champion and what I consider one of the best the sport’s ever seen to act like that, it’s completely ridiculous,” Bowyer said.

The 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion, Brad Keselowski, also reacted to the incident.

“There’s a difference between racing hard and what we saw today … that was borderline ridiculous,” Keselowski said in a post-race television interview. “I felt very lucky to make it through today.”
