(COVINGTON, La. ) — The new gym construction has been underway since December and continues to dominate the northeast side of campus despite heavy rains in April.

While most are excited, some members of the community are sad that the addition led to the retirement of a historic building, formerly used as an art classroom. The purpose of the new gym, according to school administration, is to provide additional seating and space for the athletic program.
“It can go one of two ways: it will either be highly effective or prove to be unnecessary,” student athlete Parker Layman said. “I hope that it’s the former.”
The gym construction should make much progress in the summer and is scheduled to be finished by spring 2016.
According to President Bro. Ray Bulliard, FSC, after the new gym is completed, the old gym will be repurposed for various athletic uses.
