Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person shooter that focuses on quick decision-making, team coordination, and proper use of your operator. Each operator has their own unique set of abilities and weapons to use.

Rainbow Six Siege has been out for eight years, and over those eight years some operators have shined more than others. The top five operators are listed below.

5. Zero

Zero is one of the most versatile and balanced operators in the game. He is one of the only operators that wields the incredible MP7. Zero also has the option to use the C3000K, which is one of the best assault rifles in Siege. His main ability is to throw a camera that offers intel and threat to defending operators. The effectiveness of his intel gathering is unmatched by almost every operator in the game. Zero is also one of the only operators who recently received a speed buff, which allows him to quickly close gaps and win gunfights. His speed and gadgets allow him to quickly set up his cameras in tactical spots.

Saint Paul’s sophomore Chris Lottinger believes that Zero should be at the number one spot. “The best operator has to be Zero, his 1.5 scope and MP7 make for a deadly combo that can’t be beat.”

4. Jackal

Jackal is one of the best operators in Rainbow Six Siege due to his ability to shut down roamers.

Jackal’s unique gadget is the Eyenox Model III, which allows him to track enemy footprints and identify their targets. When footprints are scanned, the visor will create a 3D “ping” of the enemy’s location. The tracking lasts for twenty seconds and creates a new ping every five. 

Roaming defenders pose a threat to attackers, as they can flank the attackers and shut down the push. Operators like Jackal shut down roamers by pinging their location and shutting them down. The only downside to playing Jackal is that he usually gets banned by players due to his overpowered ability to shut down roamers.

This operator is Saint Paul’s sophomore Connor White’s pick for the best operator. “Jackal has to be one of the best operators because of his overpowered ability to find the locations of enemies by scanning their footsteps.”

3. Iana

Iana is one of the best operators in Rainbow Six Siege due to her gadget’s versatility and the fact that her weapon is one of the best in the game. Iana’s gadget is a replicator that creates a holographic copy of herself, which can be piloted. The clone is indistinguishable from the original. This copy can’t jump, fire, or use gadgets; however, it’s great for gathering info and for baiting enemies to use their gadgets. 

Iana’s loadout contains the ARX, a hard-hitting assault rifle with almost zero recoil, which is one of Siege’s top weapons. She can also use the Gonne-6 which makes her a good choice for players who are solo queuing. 

Her kit also contains frag grenades, which are by far the best secondary gadget. Her frag grenades allow her to clear out a shield or soft hatch, which comes in handy when going against shield operators like Clash or Rook.

Saint Paul’s sophomore Evan Vanderbrook believes she is the best. “Iana is an amazing operator because of her ARX, which has zero recoil.”

2. Thatcher

Thatcher is one of the best operators in Rainbow Six Siege because of his loadout and utility. Thatcher’s kit contains three EMP Grenades. When an EMP grenade is thrown, it lets out an EMP pulse that disables all enemy gadgets within a 5-meter radius. On the downside, Thatcher’s EMP grenades cannot disable mechanical traps. For example, frost’s welcome mat cannot be destroyed by Thatcher’s EMP.

Another quality that makes Thatcher an amazing operator is his loadout. Thatcher can use the AR33, the L85A2, and the M590A1 shotgun. Thatcher’s shotgun is the most powerful weapon in his loadout because of its ability to effectively take out defending operators.

This operator is Saint Paul’s sophomore Johnny McGinnis’s pick for the best operator. “Thatcher is the best operator in the game because of his EMP grenades, which are extremely useful because almost every operator has an electronic that they can place on the bomb site.”

1. Ace

Ace is widely regarded as the best operator in Rainbow Six Siege. Hard breaching is a crucial function in siege, and Ace breaching devices are the best hard breaches in the game due to their fast deployment.

Ace is also amazing in gunfights thanks to his assault rifle, the AK-12. The AK-12 is one of the most efficient guns in the game because of its easy recoil control.

Another gadget in his kit is his smoke grenades, which makes him a great objective-focused operator who can breach, smoke, and plant solo.

Ace is beloved by many, including Saint Paul’s sophomore Edward Pope. “Ace is the best operator in the game because he has the best hard breaches in the game.”
