Fortnite launched the latest season, Fortnite OG, in the favor of longtime fans, bringing back old weapons, rare skins, and most wanted of all, the OG map.

Fortnite OG picked up on Chapter 1, Season 5. This means POI’s (Points of Interests) like Tilted Towers, which was destroyed earlier in 2019, has returned, along with weapons like the Hunting Rifle, Pump Shotgun, and Assault Rifle. Now that cars have been vaulted, Fortnite has brought back OG vehicles to take their place. I loved the concept that Fortnite created this season with an old, classy, and mood changing season.
Summary of Pros:
This season of Fortnite, along with Chapter 3, Season 3, is the most played season in the history of Fortnite. Feedback that Fortnite is receiving is finally more positive than negative. This season is climbing the charts as the most played game in November. Players now move at a new, faster default movement speed and sprint even faster for short bursts. This season has brought an all time high in players, streamers coming back, and more of a classic feel. I feel like this season was defintley a hit for Fortnite and would like to see it come back in the future.
Summary of Cons:
Once OG season ends, most OG players will leave unless they have a chapter select screen, which this season lacks. It will also decrease the hype because once the nostalgia wears off, the players will leave, and the game will go back to how it was. In addition, a lot of people think the battle pass isn’t worth it because it’s not a full season of Fortnite and not a full length battle pass. According to Reddit.com, players think that Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) has been disabled for this season because players are getting into lobbies with full sweats or full on pros. Therefore, this season seems too tough for many casual players. I feel like Fortnite should’ve placed more meds for players and kept the season for a longer period of time.
Season 6: Darkness Rises in Loot Lake
After the version 27.00 update went live on November 9, players had to adapt to the darkness that rose in Loot Lake. In accordance with Loot Lake, weapons that appeared, such as the Double Barrel Shotgun, Clingers, and Six-Shooters were a part of this update. Additionally, Quadcrasher, Mounted Turret, Chiller Trap, Port-a-Fortress, and the Drift Board were a part of this update as well. The Chiller Trap and Port-a-Fortress were only available in Zero Build Battle Royale. My favorite item they added was the Port-a-Fortress because it gave worse players a sense of comfort and protection giving them a head start and height advantage over there opponets.
Season 7 and 8: Of Chill and Treasure
Update version 27.10 added Chapter 1, Seasons 7 and 8 that started November 16. It brought a snowy environment, Frosty Flights, pirate camps, and swashbuckling gear. Weapons that were added included the Flint Knock Pistol, Minigun, and Quad Launcher. Traps and other miscellaneous items included the Poison Dart Trap, Glider re-Deploy and Buried Treasure. My favorite item that was added back was the Flint Knock because of its knock back affect that it has as you shoot players it shoots them back resulting in fall damage or in elimination.
Season 9 and X: Blast Off
On November 23, version 27.11 was put into full effect bringing back Chapter 1 Season 9 and X. On this update, weapons such as the fan favorite Heavy Sniper Rifle hit the island alongside the Proximity Grenade Launcher, Air Strike, and Junk Rift. Plus, this update adds the Storm Flip, Jetpack, and The Baller in this mixed up season. My favorite item that was added to this update was the Heavy Sniper because of it’s ability to do over 300 damage and one shot player’s walls.
OG Fortnite Time Period
This season is different from the rest of the seasons because most seasons revolve around 83 days while this season is only a month long. Epic Games have made the battle pass only 50 un-lockable rewards instead of the usual 100. The pass will still cost 950 V-bucks and will continue to stay free for the monthly crew-pass members. Because Fortnite made this season shorter, it made players upset including myself and wished they would’ve made it a full 83 days.
Fortnite OG Battle Pass and Item Shop
The battle pass consists of remixed skins from Chapter 1 Season 1. These skins consist of a Banana Sunday Peele skin, an OG skin consisting of a Renegade Raider and Lynx skin called Renegade Lynx, Spectra Knight with many un-lockable styles, and a skin with two OG characters Omega and Ragnarok combined into Omegarok. The OG item shop is also expected to have a small selection of classic, mashup, and new items. The item shop outfits, back-blings, pickaxes, and gliders will only be available for a limited time and will refresh items daily at 7 p.m. I absoulutley love Fortnites idea of mixing OG skins together because it gives players excitement because they get to wear and experience that OG feeling if they never did.
Fortnite OG Ranked
As before, the ranks that players previously acquired were reset once again. Players only need to play one game to determine their new rank. The performance in one’s first match will not determine the player’s initial rank placement, but it does reveal the player’s rank and then updates the player’s progress based on the player’s future performance. I agree with the ranking system, and it will continue to grow as a new game mode.
Fortnite Surprises
According to various sources and leaks, there will be many more surprises than usual. One of the Fortnite developers states, “Some of the unvaulted gear in each update will remain for that update or stay for the rest of Fortnite OG.” It also appears that some of the updates will consist of past live events such as the meteor and black hole that ended it all.
Fortnite Live Event
The “Big Bang” event that took place December 2 started off as what most people thought was boring. The widely known meteor started building up with energy and then just disappeared. Suddenly, it came out of the sky and hit the Zero Point, which is the energy source of Fortnite. It sent the players flying out of the map and then consumed and pulled them into an energy source. Patterns and designs started showing up. Fortnite items started popping up on the screen, and then a black hole appeared. It also appeared to show more and more galaxies and openings in space with different symbols and pieces resembling the different openings. It then threw players into a Lego galaxy and transformed players skins into Lego skins. Then players got pulled into a Rocket League galaxy giving them controls to a in-game car on a racetrack. Players then transfered to a music galaxy where rap, upbeat, and catchy music started playing. Out of nowhere, the infamous Eminem showed up on a stage. He performed “Lose Yourself and “Godzilla,” allowing players to press certain buttons on a guitar to match the beats of the songs. The event ended with your skin mesmerized and surrounded by different galaxies. I had my thoughts at first about this event being terrible but as it progressed, I instantly knew that this was one the best, if not the best, Fortnite events in history!
