It’s showtime! The most anticipated shows of 2026

This year is poised to be one of the biggest years in entertainment history, and the upcoming TV shows are a big part of that. Here’s a timeline of all the major TV shows and seasons set to release in 2026.

Starting with the shows that have already been released, Emmy Award-winning series The Pitt returned for its second season on January 9. The season takes place 10 months after Season 1’s ending during a Fourth of July weekend.

Star Trek released a new show called Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on January 15. This series follows a new class of cadets training to become officers to rebuild a broken Federation through rivalries, romance, and a mysterious new enemy.

HBO has recently given Game of Thrones a new spin-off with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, released on January 18. The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, with this season specifically being based on the first novella, The Hedge Knight.

Marvel Television is gonna have a busy year, starting off with Wonder Man, which was released on January 27th. The show follows Simon Williams, who is a Hollywood actor trying to get the role of the titular character in a remake of an in-universe popular TV show. It’s revealed that he has actual superpowers, which he needs to hide in order to get the role of a lifetime.

Bridgerton Season 4 has been released in parts this year. Part 1 came out on January 29, and Part 2 was released on February 26.

An anonymous Saint Paul’s senior gave his opinions on the newest season. “It was okay, but it was one of my lesser favorite seasons of the show,” the senior said.

Scrubs came out with a new revival series released on February 25 on ABC. Original show cast members like Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and John C. McGinley returned alongside new cast members.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters started its second season on February 27. This season continues to explore the world of the Monsterverse, showing more of titans like Godzilla and Kong and introducing a new mysterious titan named “Titan X”.

Ted has recently gotten a Season 2 that released on March 5. This season of the comedy prequel TV series follows more of Ted and John’s wacky hijinks as they deal with growing up.

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece’s second season came out on March 10. This season brings more characters from the anime into live action, such as Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello, Nico Robin, played by Lera Abova, and Tony Tony Chopper, who is voiced by Mikaela Hoover.

Invincible released its fourth season on March 18. This season will be adapting a lot of big events from the comics, such as the Dinosaurus storyline, the Viltrumite War, and the introduction of the primary antagonist of the Invincible comics, Thragg.

Getting to the shows coming soon, Daredevil Born Again Season 2 is next up for Marvel Television, releasing on March 24. This season follows Matt Murdock as he leads an army of other vigilantes in New York against Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. This season brings back a fan favorite member of the Defenders from Netflix: Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones.

Star Wars is getting a new animated series about one of its most iconic villains, with Star Wars: The Mandalorian – Shadow of the Sith releasing on April 6. This series takes place after the ending of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, following Maul and what he was doing during the reign of the Empire before his appearance in Star Wars: Rebels.

The Boys is set to release its fifth and final season on April 8th. This season will revolve around the climactic final fight between The Boys and their allies against Homelander and the Seven, who are at the peak of their power both physically and politically. While it won’t be the last we see of this universe, fans are expecting a big, bombastic, satisfying ending to one of the highest praised superhero shows of the 21st century.

Malcolm in the Middle is getting a new reboot with Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, releasing on Hulu on April 10. This reboot has Malcolm reconnecting with his family for his parents’ 40th anniversary after not being in contact with them for more than a decade, bringing his daughter along.

Euphoria is finally returning for a third season on April 12. This season has a five-year time jump, following Rue, Nate, Cassie, and other characters as they try to navigate life post-high school.

Beef is getting its second season on April 16. It will focus on a new storyline where a young couple, played by Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton, watch a troubling fight between their Millennial boss and his wife, played by Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, respectively.

Stranger Things is getting a new animated spin-off on April 23 with Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. This spin-off takes place between Seasons 2 and 3 of the show, with a lot of the show’s main characters returning for this adventure.

Amazon Prime is releasing a live-action Spider-Noir show starring Nicolas Cage on May 27. This brutal and gritty show will focus on an aging, down-on-his-luck detective version of Ben Reilly in 1930s New York City who tries to deal with his past while fighting crime and navigating his new abilities. The series will be available to watch in two different versions: in color and in black-and-white.

The Bear is getting a fifth season in June of this year, continuing this show’s annual season release trend since its beginning in 2022.

House of the Dragon will be releasing its third season in June of this year. This season will focus on the Targaryen civil war, or the Dance of the Dragons. It will focus on storylines like Rhaenyra and Aegon fighting for power and Aemond ruling from the Iron Throne.

X-Men ‘97 is slated to release its second season in the summer of 2026. The season will focus on the now split-up X-Men, with half of them stuck in the past in Ancient Egypt and the other half stuck in a dystopian future, trying to get back to each other and take on the super villain Apocalypse, who’s slowly rising to power.

Interview with the Vampire Season 3, titled The Vampire Lestat, is coming sometime this summer. It will revolve around Lestat starting a rock band and going on tour.

Ted Lasso is getting a fourth season, set to release sometime this summer. This season will focus on Ted returning to London to coach a new Second Division women’s football team for AFC Richmond. This season’s announcement came as a shock to fans after Season 3 was meant to be the final season of the show.

Lanterns will be DC’s only show this year, releasing in August. The crime drama revolves around Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart investigating a murder on Earth. The two come at odds with one another because Hal doesn’t want to pass down his mantel as one of Earth’s Green Lanterns to John, and John believes that Hal is an old man out of his prime.

This show is a big deal because it is the first live-action Green Lantern-focused project since the Green Lantern movie from 2011 starring Ryan Reynolds. The movie is seen as such an abominable failure both critically and financially that it’s regularly blamed for the reason we haven’t gotten a live-action Green Lantern-focused project in 15 years.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is likely to release its fourth and final season in September of this year. The season will likely conclude with Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier returning from Spain to America.

Dexter: Resurrection is getting a second season and is planned to come out in October. The season will explore a more murder-happy and off-the-chain Dexter Morgan as he continues his serial killer killing spree in New York while continuing to try to be there for his son, Harrison.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 is rumored to be releasing something in the fall of this year. This season will continue to show this universe’s Peter Parker grow more and more into the role of hero as Spider-Man. It will introduce and extensively focus on Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen, and is heavily rumored to feature one of Spider-Man’s most famous antagonists: Venom.

Finally, for the Marvel Television shows, there’s Vision Quest releasing in the fall of this year. This show works as a sequel to WandaVision as White Vision (who was given his memories back by the fake Vision that Wanda created) tries to figure out his place in the world. It’s rumored that James Spader will return to reprise his role as Ultron after his supposed death in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Now, for shows with no confirmed release date or window, Only Murders in the Building Season 6 takes the trio to London after the cliffhanger that ended Season 5. The season is likely coming out later this year.

The Walking Dead: Dead City is getting its third season sometime this year. The plot is rumored to be about Maggie and Negan trying to build the first thriving community in a newly freed Manhattan while facing new threats and continuing to face their dark pasts.

Dune: Prophecy is getting a second season, releasing sometime this year. This prequel to Dune will continue to focus on the origins of the Bene Gesserit and Valya Harkonnen’s impact on Arrakis.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is rumored to be getting a third season, coming out no sooner than later this year. This season will focus on Sauron’s rise to power after becoming the Dark Lord of Mordor, creating the One Ring to Rule Them All to rule over Middle-earth. This will likely feature the war between the Elves and Sauron.

A prequel to The Boys named Vought Rising is likely to come out either late 2026 or early 2027. The series will focus on the shady origins of the Vought Corporation and the first Compound V samples. It will bring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash back to play young versions of their characters from The Boys, Soldier Boy, and Stormfront, respectively.

A new show in the Blade Runner universe is coming to Amazon Prime with Blade Runner 2099. The series will take place 50 years into the future after Blade Runner 2049, and it will star Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer. The series is scheduled to come out this year.

The second season of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is coming sometime this year. This season will adapt the second season of the animated series with Aang’s journey in the Earth Kingdom. By adapting this part of the story, this season will introduce the most important Earthbender of the animated series, Toph Beifong.

Outer Banks is getting its fifth and final season sometime in 2026. This season will focus on the Pogues going to Portugal to reclaim the Blue Crown treasure and get revenge on Chandler Groff for killing JJ in Season 4.

And finally, Futurama is confirmed to be getting a Season 14 sometime this year on Hulu. The season is rumored to focus on current-day topics, such as NFTs, AI, and streaming TV, while featuring stories revolving around Fry and Leela’s relationship and Robot Santa.

An anonymous Saint Paul’s senior told us how insane this year’s TV slate is. “There’s a lot coming out this year, but it doesn’t feel like quantity over quality. It feels like the perfect mix,” the senior said.

All in all, 2026 is shaping up to be a big year in the medium of television, so get ready to be lying on your couch for a long time this year.
