The winter sports season is coming to an end, and all of the winter sport athletes have done a great job representing St. Paul’s in an exemplary manor.
The Indoor Track team finished second in the state meet on Saturday, Feb. 23, with three individual first place finishes. Junior Zachary Albright finished first in the 1600 meter run. Junior Kramer Jackson finished first in the 3200 race. Senior Cameron Robichaux finished first in boys pole vault.
The Wrestling Wolves had a very successful state championship showing with all ten participating team members placing. Senior Connor Campo won his 2nd state championship in a row. Other place winners included seniors David Englehardt and Jordan Peterson, who both placed 2nd in their weight class. Junior Tanner LeBlanc, senior John Brands, and senior Zach Mangrum each placed 3rd in their weight class. Junior Chris Meraux and senior Collin Kersker each placed 4th in their weight class. And, junior Zach Clay and senior Dominic Iovenitti finished 6th.
“That is the most wins we’ve had at state in school history,” noted Head Wrestling Coach, Craig Ketelsen.
The Power Lifting team came in first place at the Regional Finals in Chalmette. Seven of the competitors were first place winners. With the state competition coming up, the team will not disappoint.
Lacrosse Wolves, still going strong, recently had Senior Night at hunter stadium, beating Mandeville 22-2. The Lacrosse Wolves will enter playoffs sometime soon, pending announcement of the dates.
With the spring sport season starting up, the Outdoor Track team has been practicing and had their first meet Friday, March 1.
