St. Tammany Parish School Board made the decision on Wednesday to close schools on Thursday, Jan. 30, due to the road conditions. St. Paul’s followed suit.
Students were advised in an email from Assistant Principle Trevor Watkins with the following:
“We will reopen Friday. All periods, A-G, will meet on Friday. You should consult Edline for any directives from teachers. Since the weather forecast for Thursday afternoon is favorable, some athletic activities will take place. Individual coaches will be in touch with athletes concerning schedules.”
In addition, Junior Career Day will be rescheduled to a later date. And, parent teacher meetings will still be held Monday, Feb. 3, in the evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Briggs Assembly Center.
As Watkins said at the end of his email to students and parents, “Let’s all pray that we will be back to normal on Friday.”
