(COVINGTON, La.) — On St. Paul’s campus, there is never a shortage of things to do. Of course, this means that even when the students are on summer vacation, activities will still be taking place on campus. This summer there will be plenty of things going on around St. Paul’s well throughout the entire break. Things like sports camps, creative writing workshops, theater, music, and even lessons on how to build a robot will be offered at various times over the course of June and July. The events, times, dates, and other information are listed below.

St. Paul’s Sports Camps
St. Paul’s coaches teach fundamentals and are assisted by student-athletes for the following sports:
Baseball- June 1 -5
Football – June 8-12
Wrestling – June 15-19
Basketball- June 22 -26
Lacrosse- July 6-10
Soccer- July 13-17
Basketball Academy – July 20 -24
Speed and Strength – July 27 – July 31
Boys ages: 8-14
Cost: $195 per week
Campers are separated by age and ability. Camps run for one week each from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers should bring their lunch.

St. Paul’s Pre-Engineering Camp
Build your own Robot!
Date: July 6 – July 10
Time: 9 a.m. – noon
Boys and Girls: Grades 5-7
Cost: $150
Instructor: St. Paul’s S.T.E.M. Instructor Mrs. Julie Beck.
Want to design a working robot? Register for this five-day camp that will you teach you how to design your own robot. Use the principles of engineering and physics to improve the performance of your robot and learn about different approaches to solving problems. This camp will give you hands-on use of S.T.E.M. skills using real-world project-based learning and team-building skills.

Video Production Camp is one week long.

Ages: Boys and Girls 10-14
Time: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

This camp will teach students how to light, shoot, and edit their own productions.

Creative Writing Camp is one week long.
Date: July 13 – 17
Ages: Boys and Girls 10-14
Time: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: $135
Instructor: St. Paul’s English Instructor Brad Guillory
The Creative Writing Camp will teach variations of writing techniques. The program includes lessons that will give participants a sense of understanding and confidence when they write independently. Having fun while learning something new is top priority. The program includes instruction in the fields of journaling, non-fiction, fiction, and poetry, as well as practicing different writing styles, learning about character development and plot mapping.

Marching Wolves Percussion Camp & New Member Orientation
Date: July 20 – 22
Ages: St. Paul’s students only (incoming 8th – 12th grade)
Time: Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to noon
Cost: free
Instructor: Director of Bands Andrew Moran
New band members will learn the fundamentals of becoming a member of one of the most sought-after parade bands in the New Orleans area. New and veteran percussionists will be assigned instruments and begin learning the band’s unique marching and performance cadences. No experience required!

Ages: St. Paul’s students only (incoming 8th – 12th grade)
Time: 9 a.m – 6 p.m
Cost: free
Instructor: Director of Bands Andrew Moran
New and veteran members of the Marching Wolves will work on marching fundamentals and traditional school songs, as well as begin creating the first halftime show of the upcoming football season. The week will end with a performance for family and friends. Enrollment for new band members is still open. No musical experience required!
