Chipotlame Vs. Izzo’s Illegal Burrito

With a opening of the new Chipotle Mexican Grill on Hwy 22, there has been a lot of debate going around on whether Chipotle is better than Izzo’s Illegal Burritos. Well, I am here to tell you that Chipotle is NOT better than Izzo’s, and here is why.

Reason 1: Chipotle’s E. Coli Outbreak

Early in 2016, Chipotle had an outbreak of E. coli infection in 11 states. Even though they have resolved the problem by recalling every ingredient from those restaurants and launching an investigation with the FDC, I still don’t want to eat at a place that could be infected by a possibly deadly bacteria.

Reason 2: Pricing

Chipotle prices it’s burritos much higher than its better counterpart Izzo’s. For a burrito with 10 ingredient at Chipotle (queso is $1.25 more at Chipotle, while it is free at Izzo’s) the price was $10.03; while a burrito at Izzo’s with 13 ingredients cost only $8.56. So basically you are paying more for less at Chipotle, while paying less for more at Izzo’s.

Reason 3: Da Sauce

Sauce is an integral part of a burrito experience. Without it, the burrito is just a barren wasteland of meat and beans. But with sauce, a burrito is transformed into a fruitful oasis of deliciousness. Do you want to take a guess on how many sauces Chipotle has? Two. That’s it. One is hot red salsa, and the other is hot green salsa. So, they basically have two of the same sauce. Izzo’s, on the other hand, has eight fantastic sauces ranging from mild to melt-your-mouth-off hot.

Reason 4: Location

If you’re leaving St. Paul’s and just dying for a warm soft burrito, are you going to drive all the way up Hwy 21, over the Madisonville bridge (which you’d better not catch on the hour, because you might be waiting another 30 minutes), down that long stretch of road that is Hwy 22, all the way to Chipotle just for a pricey, sauceless burrito. I don’t think so. What you are going to do is drive five minutes up Hwy 21 and get yourself a juicy, warm Izzo’s Illegal Burrito.

Reason 5: The Selection

This is my final and most important reason to go to Izzo’s rather than Chipotle. They have a much better and bigger selection of meats and veggies. While at Chipotle, you can only make 400 different combinations of burritos, you can make a whopping 1,521 different combinations of burritos at Izzo’s. This means you could go four years, two months and one day without ever eating the same burrito twice.

If you have any reasons or disagree with any of of the above, feel free to comment.
