Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Review

The most recent installment of the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare II, was released on October 28, 2022, as a sequel to the 2019 Modern Warfare

The game offers all modes similar to the previous Modern Warfare: Multiplayer, Campaign, and Warzone.

Its gameplay turns toward a new style within the franchise, such as improved AI, better graphics, and overall better mechanics for an improved in-game performance.

A new feature in Modern Warfare II that has people questioning the new mechanics is the leveling system, a new way of unlocking weapons and attachments.

Many new mechanics, such as the leveling system, were brought into the game. Instead of just playing the game, leveling up your weapons, and earning attachments, the player must play and earn those weapons by leveling one weapon at a time to various levels.

Modern Warfare II’s multiplayer is very different as well, making players stay on their feet. The quick-paced game enters a new territory where players need to play strategically. In previous games, quality players can get away with running around and shooting. However, in this game, there is more emphasis on “camping” (hiding) in the right spots before attacking. Overall, the multiplayer aspect brings a new focus to the game and directs the players to play more strategically.

The game mode “Warzone” is brought back from the previous Modern Warfare, adding a new map and modified self-revival system. The latest revival system adds a two vs. two Gulag instead of one vs. one.

“It’s really intense,” said Saint Paul’s senior Ethan Stenger. “Whether you’re teamed up with a stranger or trying to survive with a friend, the stakes are at an all-time high.”

The Campaign mode picks up after the previous installment, now directing the player further into the Modern Warfare storyline with the same characters.

Overall, Modern Warfare II introduces a new direction into the first-person gameplay, making it more challenging and fun. In fact, I enjoy the new gameplay features, it brings more attention towards leveling up weapons and getting better at the game; having to play more strategically and adds a new atmosphere toward the gameplay.
