Opinion: “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is the Greatest Superhero Movie Ever

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the greatest superhero movie ever.

Across the Spider-Verse was exceptional in several categories, including comedy, action, animation, sci-fi, and superheroes.

Watching this in the theater for the first time was an experience that I wish I could relish again. I found myself on the verge of tears, both from laughing and sympathizing with many of the characters.

Directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson clearly poured their hearts and souls into the film. The numerous references to the prequel, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, represented how much they care about the project. For example, one of the antagonists, The Spot, was created from a highly action-packed scene that occurred in the prequel.

Much of the movie felt very personal, and the relationships that are shown between everyone made me want to build upon the relationships in my life.

Specifically, Miles Morales, the main protagonist, has an extremely familiar relationship with his mom and dad. Every time they have a conversation on screen, I immediately get Déjà vu because I have had the exact same conversations with my parents.

In addition to the personality of the film, it was hilarious. Just about every joke that was shown had me on the floor. I loved that during the action, many different jokes and puns were fit in perfectly. The writing was witty and memorable.

I highly recommend the movie to everyone. You can go with any expectations because it will not matter; you will be blown away.

  1. As someone who doesn’t like superhero movies very much, I really enjoyed both spider verse films. They have a unique human element to them that’s missing in these MCU movies. While it has some steep competition (Dark Knight films and the raimi Spider-Man movies) it’s definitely the best superhero movie of the last 10 years or so
