Wolves to Face Denham Springs Friday Night

SPS VS DS

(COVINGTON, La.) — After falling to 1-1 in a heartbreaking 17-14 loss to Jesuit last week, the Wolves are set to square off with the Denham Springs High School Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m. on Friday night at Hunter Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets are 2-0 on the season, with a 50-0 win over Tara last week and a 23-0 win over East Ascension in week one.

Offensively, quarterback Torez Kinchen will lead the Yellow Jackets. Running backs Tyre Golmond and Robert Thomas have provided a spark for the Yellow Jackets, combining for 450 yards and four touchdowns.

Defensively, the Yellow Jackets are led by senior defensive lineman and LSU committ Caleb Roddy, who has recorded 13 tackles on the season, including five tackles for a loss of yardage.

In the Wolves’ 17-14 loss to the Jesuit Blue Jays last week, the Wolves fought back from a 10-0 halftime deficit to take a 14-10 lead in the fourth quarter, but a late Jesuit touchdown gave the Blue Jays a lead that they would not relinquish.

The Wolves won their week one matchup against Edna Karr 34-7. The Wolves were led offensively by senior quarterback Kenny Sears, who accounted for 232 passing yards and threw touchdowns to seniors Mason Hebert, Grant Gallaspy, and Dominic Davenport. They also scored on a one-yard run by sophomore Corey Williamson and a 55-yard interception return by junior Brycen Brown.
