Marian Players Make Special Dedication

get-attachment.aspx2The Marian Players’ spring musical, “In The Heights,” was dedicated to the late Justin Addison, who had designed and began construction of the show’s iconic piragua cart prior to his untimely death. Early in the fall semester, Justin had sought out director Denny Charbonnet and expressed his interest in helping any way he could with the musical. A member of the Wolves on Wheels eco-car construction club, Justin was able to use his experience with vehicle design to benefit the show.

After Justin’s death, Greg Vanek, father of 2010 alumnus Adam Vanek, finished the work that Justin had started. “Piragua por Justino” was painted on the side of the cart in honor of Justin.

A dedication ceremony followed the opening performance of the show and was attended by the Addison family. During the ceremony, the family was presented with a book of memories written by each member of the junior class about their fallen classmate. The family was also presented with funds raised by the junior class in his honor.
