There are many, many, many, many, many kinds of junk foods, demonstrated by the national BMI average among Americans. However, only the best of the best, the cream of the crop, are worthy of being included in my prestigious Top 5 best snack foods. After all, a list must be established to separate the Little Debbie from the black licorice. From chips to cakes to candy bars, my taste buds know no wrong.
(Note, I’m forming this list on the criteria of price, availability, and my own personal preference, so not everything will be on here.)
Best Snack Cake: Little Debbie’s Cosmic Brownie
Little Debbie is widely considered to be one of the best in the business, and their Cosmic Brownie is one of the things that put them there. The rich texture of the chocolate mixed with the crunchy little candies sprinkled on top go together incredibly well. An excellent choice for two people, it has a ridge in the center for easy separation. When the situation calls for it, you can give it to a friend, but then again you might want to keep both pieces for yourself. I know I wouldn’t want to give it up.
Best Chocolate Bar: Hershey’s Symphony with Toffee and Almonds
I know what you’re thinking, that I don’t know what I’m talking about because I chose Hershey as my favorite chocolate bar, but hear me out. Symphony is by far Hershey’s smoothest chocolate bar they’ve made, and it’s chock full of crunchy toffee. The almonds contrast the sweet with salty to truly make a “symphony” of flavor in your mouth.
Best Hard Candy: Lifesavers
You can’t say no to the classics. Lifesavers come in different flavors as well as in mints, so you can rot your teeth and freshen your breath. It’s your choice, really.
Best King Cake: Barker’s Dozen King Cakes
Way out past Chalmette, in the lonely town of Violet, there is a bakery. This specific bakery produces the single best king cake that I have ever eaten. The fluffy dough that makes the cake, the sugary icing, the cinnamon and brown sugar on the inside; all these together make up the only king cake that I’ve ever had that can beat out Randazzo’s. This cake with my favorite filling, cream cheese, would be the finest thing to ever grace God’s green Earth.
Best Non-Traditional Snackfood: Flintstone Vitamins
I can’t be the only one who used to eat these like they were candy. They don’t really have that awful chalky taste that most chewable vitamins have, and that’s what sets them apart. They were the only healthy thing I willingly ate as a kid, and I always thought they were candy. Then they came out with the gummies and the whole vitamin game was changed.
And thus concludes my list. If you have any problems with my choices, write a comment, and I may respond telling you why you’re wrong.
