Saturday Crawfish Cook-Off To Pinch Tails and Raise Funds

(COVINGTON, La.) — The annual Crawfish Cook-Off competition presented by the St. Paul’s Alumni Association will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“The purpose of this event is to raise funds for both Hope House of Saint Tammany and Saint Paul’s Alumni Association,” the Alumni Association webpage says, “while providing an entertaining event for all to enjoy.”

Happenings during this eighth installment of the event include bountiful crawfish, lavishly decorated booths, and awards to recognize those who stand head and shoulders above the pack. At press time, a total of 26 teams are on board to compete for various awards.

Tickets are available online, at the St. Paul’s Alumni Office (985-892-3200) and at the event. Advance tickets are $30 for adults over age 18, $20 for youth ages 13-18, and $5 for children ages 7-12. At the gate, ticket costs will be $35 for adults, $25 for youths and $5 for children ages 7-12. There is no charge for children under age 7.

According to the event’s site, the price paid for a ticket includes all-you-can-eat crawfish. Beer and other refreshments will be available to purchase, as well.

According the Weather Channel, the forecast for the “rain or shine event” is mostly sunny with only a 10 percent chance of rain.
