(COVINGTON, La.) —
On Friday the 17th, Saint Paul’s will play Catholic New Iberia after more than two weeks away from Hunter Stadium. The Wolves look to make a statement despite the tough loss of Zachary on Friday 41-2. However, they return to Hunter Stadium with a renewed pride and an exciting student section.
This will be a challenging matchup as the Panthers are returning 25 seniors including their star running back KK Reno who has offers from Southern, Southeastern, and Louisiana Lafayette with more likely to come. He is also expected to play safety and quarterback against the Wolves. Junior Safety Jacob Johnson had this to say about Saint Paul’s motivation after a tough loss going into the September 17th game versus Catholic New Iberia, “Football is a game of short memory, and we’re completely focused on this week and bouncing back.” Johnson also said, “We’ve had a great week of practice, and we’re looking to come out Friday night and dominate,” which is exactly what they did against Rummel. In the matchup versus Zachary, the special teams had a rough outing and are looking to change that around.
This Friday is also Senior Night for Saint Paul’s. The Wolves are returning 20 seniors this year including Grant Bilson, the three-year starting quarterback, and two new members to the team in the highly touted cornerback Justin Washington who has an offer from Southeastern, and a new running back who has positively impacted the team in Colin Thieler.
So, with a good week of practice, the Wolves are ready to come out and dominate from the first snap to the last whistle. With the student section matching the team with their gold out theme, the atmosphere should be perfect for some intense Friday Night Lights football.
