Wolves Look to Keep Rolling Against Mandeville

The Saint Paul’s Wolves will come home to Hunter Stadium on Friday, October 22nd, to take on the rival Mandeville Skippers. The Wolves are coming off a heart-stopping victory against district rival Northshore at Pearl River last Thursday. Senior quarterback Grant Billson led the riveting ending to the Northshore game, driving the Wolves down the field with under five minutes left for a game-winning Danny Sears touchdown. A road win on a short week propels the Wolves’ record to increase to 5-1 on the season, with an undefeated 4-0 record in district play. After a 41-2 loss in their season opener to Zachary, the Wolves have won their last five games.
For district rival Mandeville, the season hasn’t gone so smoothly. After a 27-6 season-opening win hosting Dunham, the Skippers have proceeded to drop the last four games in a row. Last week, the Skippers got a district win over the struggling Fontainebleau Bulldogs to get to 2-4, with a 1-3 record in district play. The Skippers’ bright spot this season has been wide receiver Landon Ibieta. The senior wide-out visited the University of Miami’s campus over the summer and committed to the school in June, making him the fourth commitment of the Hurricanes class of 2026. In a game last season, Ibieta put up an exceptional five catches for just over 365 yards and three touchdowns in a single game against Hannan the previous season. The Saint Paul’s secondary will have to step up to cover the Miami commit as senior defensive back Justin Washington is under suspension for Friday night’s contest.
The Wolves will look to keep their undefeated 3-0 home record alive at Hunter Stadium against a struggling Skippers squad that has yet to win a game on the road this season.
