Lacrosse Kicks off Their Revenge Tour with Bruin Invitational Tournament

The 2-time state champion Saint Paul’s Lacrosse team began their revenge tour two weeks ago in the Bruin Invitational Tournament. Last year the Wolves’ season had a heartbreaking ending as Senior Captain Andrew Addison broke his femur in the final game before the playoffs. They then lost by a sizeable margin in the first round of the playoffs.
This year the Wolves look to take their third state title in program history. Chris and Ryan Flood were both on the last two state championship teams, and their younger brother Trevor looks to be a part of the third and is confident he and the team will do so as he said, “I like our chances this year. If we score goals and play tough, physical defense, I can see us going far this year. It’s about effort, we play hard, and that’s what wins games.”
Saint Paul’s went 2-1 with a close loss to Catholic and two comfortable wins against St. Thomas Moore and Captain Shreve. The Wolves found their offensive spark in Senior Attackman Sergio Romero, who had seven goals, 5 of which came against Catholic, and seven assists. Trevor Flood also helped the offensive wave with five goals coming in the last two games. The team looked strong, with the middies also getting in on some goals and solid goalie play. Garret Lauterbach has held down the cage in the previous two years and has been a crucial part of the team’s defense. This year the Wolves do not have a set goalie as all three candidates have shown their ability to protect the cage well. Claude Scarpelli, Braedan Couvillion, and Tyler Gray have yet to show serious separation as the job is still up for grabs. It will be interesting to see who gets the first start in the 2022 season.
With that said, the Wolves are excited about the 2022 season and hope to bring home the state championship trophy.
